Heartland Trailer: Jessica Chastain Returns to Nashville in a Dark Country Mystery

Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for Heartland, a dark country-western mystery starring Oscar winner Jessica Chastain as a former country music legend pulled back into the spotlight after two decades away. Directed by Shana Feste, the film takes audiences deep into the glamorous yet murky world of Nashville, where fame comes with a price and almost everyone appears to be hiding something. Chastain plays Misty Jones, a former country megastar who has spent years in seclusion before a disturbing family mystery forces her to return to the city she left behind.

Misty’s comeback, however, has nothing to do with reclaiming her throne. She returns to investigate the disappearance of her niece, a promising young country musician whose sudden vanishing leaves behind far more questions than answers. As Misty begins digging into what happened, she finds herself pulled into a Nashville filled with secrets, betrayals and dangerous relationships. The deeper she goes, the more she realises that the world she once knew has changed — and perhaps she has too.

The trailer sets up a fascinating clash between country music glamour and a much darker reality lurking underneath. Misty is forced to confront her own complicated past while navigating Nashville’s seedy underbelly, where ambition, temptation and fame appear to come at a heavy cost. The film promises plenty of twists as Misty discovers that nobody is quite who they claim to be. Even the people closest to her investigation could be hiding crucial pieces of the puzzle.

Chastain leads an impressive ensemble cast featuring Garrett Hedlund, Carter Faith, Ross Lynch, Paul Sparks, Jennifer Nettles and John Hawkes. The film also has a strong musical component, with an original album that reportedly weaves the story’s themes of mistakes, temptations and betrayals into its country sound. Chastain and Nettles lead the musical side with the title track, giving Heartland an added layer that blends the drama with the authentic atmosphere of Nashville.

Written and directed by Shana Feste, Heartland looks like a different kind of country music story — less about the glitter of the stage and more about what happens when the lights go down. The Nashville setting becomes almost a character itself, filled with smoky secrets, broken dreams and people willing to do almost anything to protect their place in the music business. For Misty, the search for her niece becomes increasingly personal as she is forced to revisit the life and choices she thought she had left behind.

With Jessica Chastain stepping into the role of a mysterious former country icon and a missing-person investigation at the heart of the story, Heartland certainly has an intriguing setup. The trailer leaves plenty of questions unanswered, including what really happened to Misty’s niece and just how deep the secrets surrounding her disappearance go. Netflix is set to bring Heartland to audiences on November 13, 2026, and if you like your country music served with mystery, betrayal and a seriously dark side, this one could be worth keeping an eye on.
